If you'd like to host or co-host a happening with the New Intermediaries, you'll find below some notes on the value set underpinning our events and some suggestions about how to get the ball rolling.

How to make a New Intermediaries happening happen!

The emerging pattern seems to be to team up with another person in the NI community to jointly dream up, host and run events.

Choose your medium. Events can be Face to Face, or a Teleforum (to arrange contact Georgina) or Instant Messaging (to arrange contact Bruce), or a blend of 2 or more media. If in doubt speak to one of the email moderators Colston, Tony or Uly.

New Intermediaries is open. Our meetings provide fun ways to learn about how to do our work better. If you have an idea, first check that it is compatible with the distinctive style and character is emerging for New Intermediaries events (see bullets below)…. then you could try it out on a few of us … perhaps using email or phone or online dialogue.

  • The New Intermediaries domain is: people, change and organisations
  • This is a community of practice; dedicated to knowledge sharing and creation. It offers support, helping us all to find points of leverage, to become distinctive, to communicate what we do in our work and to a sense of pride/esprit
  • This is a live experiment, that demonstrates new ways of working and organising and the fun and learning that happens when you bring people together
  • This is about crossing boundaries to create new knowledge and understanding, primarily through face to face contact and two way exchange; bricks and clicks, leaders and luddites, internal/external change agents. We seek to gather new perspectives on change from other communities; theatre, arts, therapy, other kinds of intermediaries
  • This is an open community: people can come and go, dip in and out as work commitments/their own energy levels permit. It is not about building a membership organisation, or achieving critical mass as an end in itself
  • This community serves both internal and external consultants, but perhaps in different ways. External consultants need contact with others to avoid isolation, internal consultants gain value from a distancing and perspective on their own home cultures

The style of New Intermediaries can be summarised as:
